As the e-Assessment Association prepares for the next chapter in its development, we are saying thank you and farewell to three valued members of our Board of Directors: Matt Wingfield, Aga Jop and Emma Hall.
Each has brought their own experience, expertise and perspective to the Board, contributing to the work of the eAA and our mission to support and advance the effective use of technology in assessment.
As they step down from the Board, we would like to recognise their individual contributions and thank them for the time, knowledge and commitment they have given to the Association and the wider e-assessment community.
Reflecting on their contribution to the eAA, the outgoing Chair, Graham Hudson, said:
As we welcome new members to the eAA Board, I would also like to thank Matt Wingfield, Emma Hall and Aga Jop, who are standing down as directors.
All three have been part of an important period in the eAA's development, supporting the move from the former unincorporated association to the new company structure and helping us to develop and deliver our strategy for growth. I am also personally very grateful for the support they have given me during my time as Chair.
Matt deserves particular recognition after an extraordinary 16 years on the Board. During that time he has served as Chair, Acting CEO, led the development of the AO Network and made a huge contribution to the Association in many other ways.
Emma has provided invaluable support through the changes of recent years, both as Company Secretary and as a member of the Executive Committee, while Aga has been a strong supporter of the eAA throughout this period of change and growth.
My sincere thanks to all three for everything they have contributed to the eAA.
Matt Wingfield
Director - Ordinary
Few people have been as closely connected with the development and growth of the e-Assessment Association as Matt Wingfield.
A founding member of the eAA, Matt joined its first Board in 2010 and became Chair in 2012. He led the Association through a significant period of development, remaining Chair until 2021, when he took on the role of interim CEO. During this time, the eAA grew into an international community of more than 3,200 members, supported by a growing network of sponsors and partners.
Matt’s contribution has extended well beyond his roles on the Board. He has played an important part in developing the Association’s relationship with awarding organisations through his leadership of the eAA’s Awarding Organisation (AO) Network, providing a dedicated forum for organisations to connect, exchange knowledge and discuss the opportunities and challenges facing the sector.
He has also been instrumental in the development of the International e-Assessment Awards. The idea for the Awards originated in a conversation over coffee between Matt and a former member of the eAA Operations team. Ten years later, they have grown into one of the Association’s flagship international initiatives. Having been involved as a judge for several years and now serving as Chair of Judges, Matt has helped oversee the development of the judging process, expansion of award categories and increasing international reach of both entries and judges.
With more than three decades of experience across education, awarding organisations and assessment technology, Matt has brought extensive sector knowledge to his work with the eAA. Today, he works as an independent consultant, supporting technology providers, awarding organisations and educators in maximising the positive impact of assessment technologies.
As Matt completes his time as a Director, we would like to recognise not only his many years of service to the Board, but the significant role he has played in shaping the eAA itself. We are delighted that his involvement with the Association will continue through the AO Network and his role as Chair of Judges for the International e-Assessment Awards.
Emma Hall
eAA Secretary
Emma Hall has served as a member of the eAA Board since 2018, bringing extensive experience of supporting assessment organisations through the adoption and implementation of digital assessment.
With more than a decade of experience in the e-assessment industry, Emma has worked closely with a diverse range of organisations to explore how technology can support assessment, while also helping them understand and navigate the challenges involved in moving to new assessment systems.
Since 2018, Emma has led the Business Development team at Surpass Assessment’s UK head office, working with awarding organisations and assessment providers around the world as they select and implement new assessment solutions.
Her work with organisations adopting e-assessment has given Emma a particular interest in how people can be better supported through periods of technological change, including how change can be managed to provide a positive experience for assessment professionals and candidates.
Throughout her time on the Board, Emma has brought this practical understanding of technology adoption and the needs of assessment organisations to the eAA’s work and discussions.
As she completes her time as a Director, we would like to thank Emma for her contribution and commitment over the past eight years and for the experience and insight she has shared with the Association and the wider e-assessment community.
Aga Jop
Director - Ordinary
Aga Jop has brought extensive international education and assessment experience to the eAA Board, with a career spanning assessment development, digital transformation, professional certification and online exam delivery.
Beginning her career in assessment almost 20 years ago, Aga worked initially with traditional paper-based examinations before leading work to digitise examinations for a professional accountancy body. In 2015, she went on to introduce e-assessment and remote invigilation into professional certification examinations, becoming one of the earlier UK adopters of remote invigilation technology at scale.
Her experience has also included working with employers and organisations delivering major national and international education and training programmes, including the NHS, local government and United Nations agencies. She has worked closely with governance and oversight bodies and contributed to the UK government initiative to develop the Level 7 accountancy and finance apprenticeship.
Since 2020, Aga has worked with Examity, now part of Meazure Learning, where her role has included managing relationships and supporting international clients with the delivery of online examinations.
Aga has brought this combination of practical delivery experience, policy knowledge and international perspective to her role on the eAA Board. Her insight into the changing assessment landscape, particularly the adoption and delivery of technology-enabled assessment, has been a valuable contribution to the Association and its work.
As Aga steps down from the Board, we would like to thank her for her commitment to the eAA and for the knowledge, experience and perspective she has shared with the Association and our community.

Matt, Aga and Emma have each contributed to that work in different ways, bringing valuable knowledge, experience and perspectives to the Board and helping the eAA continue to develop alongside a rapidly changing assessment landscape.
As they complete their terms as Directors, we would like to extend our sincere thanks to Matt, Aga and Emma for everything they have contributed during their time on the Board.
While this marks the end of their current roles as Directors, the relationships built through the eAA extend well beyond Board membership. We look forward to continuing to see their contributions across the assessment community and wish Aga and Emma every success for the future, while continuing to work with Matt through the AO Network and International e-Assessment Awards.
