The eAA is pleased to welcome Mike Dawe as its new Chair, as the Association begins the next chapter in its development.
Mike is a senior international consultant specialising in workforce development, skills systems and professional standards, with more than 25 years’ experience working across assessment, qualifications and skills development. His career has included advising governments, international organisations and awarding bodies on skills reform, assessment and international labour mobility.
Mike has a long-standing connection with assessment technology. During his career with City & Guilds, he led work introducing technological solutions into vocational education, including e-learning and e-assessment, and was responsible for implementing the organisation’s on-screen assessment solution – one of the earliest developments of its kind in the UK further education sector.
He later led the City & Guilds Centre for Skills Development before moving into the organisation’s international business, where his roles included responsibility for its investment in IndiaSkills and, subsequently, serving as Managing Director of City & Guilds International. His work has given him extensive experience of skills and qualification systems across international markets.
More recently, Mike’s work has focused particularly on the relationship between skills, assessment, recognition and international workforce mobility. This has included supporting work to strengthen internationally recognised qualifications and create opportunities for skilled workers to access global labour markets.
Mike is also a long-standing supporter of the eAA and has contributed his experience and expertise to the Association and its community over many years. Most recently, he has been involved in the eAA’s work exploring workforce mobility and the role that trusted assessment, qualifications and technology can play in supporting skills recognition across borders.
Welcoming Mike’s appointment, outgoing eAA Chair Graham Hudson said:
I am particularly pleased that Mike Dawe will become the new Chair of the eAA.
Mike is well respected across the assessment community and brings extensive experience of the design and delivery of national and international assessment programmes, working with some of the world’s major assessment organisations. He has also been a strong supporter of the eAA over many years.
Having reached the point where I felt the time was right to hand the Chair on, I could not be happier to see Mike taking on the role. I know that he understands both what the eAA is trying to achieve and the community it exists to serve, and I look forward to seeing the Association continue to grow and develop under his leadership.
Mike takes on the role at an important time for both the eAA and the wider assessment community, as new technologies, changing approaches to skills and qualifications, and the increasingly international nature of education and employment continue to shape the future of assessment.
The eAA looks forward to working with Mike as Chair and to drawing on his experience and international perspective as the Association continues to grow, strengthen its global community and support the sharing of knowledge and good practice across the assessment sector. We are delighted to welcome Mike to the role and look forward to this next chapter for the eAA under his leadership.
Join the global community advancing e-assessment through innovation, research, and collaboration.
